What is Student Impact?
Student Impact is for teens in grades 6-12. We are intentional about fun, interactive lessons and helping teens to be more comfortable inviting their friends with them to church.
We meet on scheduled Friday evenings from 7:00pm-9:00pm. (Click the recent announcement link above to find out our upcoming events.)
If you enjoy games, snacks, teaching times, small groups and loads more fun this is the place for you to get connected. If you haven’t had the opportunity to join us, you are missing out! If you are new to Fellowship Wesleyan and you are concerned, don’t be! We want you to be involved so you are able to connect with other teens and grow in your relationship with Christ.
We also have great leaders who would love to help you in any way. Need a ride to Student Impact? Talk to Pastor Jake or any of our other leaders, we can make that happen!
Parents, you might be wondering what a typical night at Student Impact looks like…First we begin with about 20 minutes of just socializing. Teens are allowed to purchase snacks from our snack shop and mingle with the other teens. After our free time we transition into a time of announcements, these are announcements about the current night of Student Impact and/or events that are in the near future. Our main source of communication for announcements comes in the form of a weekly email, if you are not currently receiving our emails please contact Allison Leckel.
After announcements, it’s time for some fun! Each week we have a time of game playing. These games vary from board games to the ever popular Ultimate Frisbee. You don’t have to be the star athlete to enjoy our games. We try to find something for everyone to enjoy.
Our teaching lessons are from Word of Life (WOL).
We share in the purpose of teaching to communicate biblical content and to bring about life-changing transformation in the lives of those who are listening! We take the timeless truths of biblical doctrine and connect them to where students are living today. Doctrine is the foundation for living the Christian life because what we believe determines how we live. To live a successful Christian life, our students need to have a solid grip on basic Bible doctrines.
Teach God’s Word Clearly:
We will explain the truth of God’s Word in such a way that students MUST receive or reject the truth.
Our goal is to always bring them to a point of decision.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. – 2 Timothy 3:16, 17
The Love of Christ compels us – 2 Corinthians 5:14
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind – Romans 12:2
Be doers of the Word and not hearers only – James 1:22
A six year approach to doctrine
Our Student Ministry curriculum takes a 6 year approach to helping teens accomplish a solid spiritual foundation in their lives. Each year students will experience sound teaching of several major doctrines, Bible book study, topical study, and godly life skills.
Creative teaching tools
We’ll help the study of God’s Word come alive by using themed, four-week modules. Within the Student Bible Study Curriculum, we have seven four-week teaching modules to stimulate the interest of everyone.
We’re committed to a Biblical model of discipleship, so we can help teens grow in their relationship with God.
Daily Quiet Time – The Quiet Time daily devotional journal covers the whole Bible every 6 years. Everyone reads from the same passage every day building a unique unity. For teens, there are fill-in-the-blanks on each passage with questions to help with application.
Scripture Memory – We give the teens tools to help them spend daily time in the Word, memorize scripture, and start serving God right now, where they are.
Ministry Service – We also help teens reach the community through local outreach events put on entirely by our church.
Local Church – This program is about teens. We believe the youth in the church are to be faithful to our local church.
Throughout the year we will be studying various biblical principles. We like to use multiple ways to get God’s message to our teens. So we vary from video lessons, to large group discussions and ultimately a time where our teens can join with their age group and discuss in a small group setting.
